Job Summary

  • We are searching for an Engineering Designer Intern to join our Mechanical & Electrical Design & Drafting Department at the Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State.
  • The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours per week over the summer in a paid part-time position located at the University Park Campus.
  • ARL’s purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense, and the Intel Community.

Must-have

  • Mechanical CAD software proficiency
  • 2D detail drawing creation
  • 3D parametric solid modeling
  • Database entry and documentation control
  • On-site work at State College, PA

Nice-to-have

  • Siemens NX CAD experience
  • Siemens Teamcenter PLM tool familiarity
  • ASME Y14.5 certification or knowledge
  • Microsoft Office and Adobe proficiency
  • Collaboration with R&D engineers

Key Requirements

  • Current eligibility for Secret level clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Students pursuing an Engineering degree encouraged to apply
  • Ability to obtain government security clearance
  • Pre-employment drug screen and background check
