Job Summary
The Research Scientist will provide leadership for and conduct engineering and scientific experiments while establishing an independent line of research aligned with the department's mission.
Candidates are expected to apply artificial intelligence and machine learning methods, including deep learning and computer vision, to analyze agricultural datasets and develop predictive analytics.
The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty, Extension agents, and industry partners to advance research in agricultural and biological engineering through grant development and project management.

Skills & Requirements
Must-have
Ph.D. in Agricultural or Biological Engineering
Design and conduct laboratory and field experiments
Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning methods
Develop AI-driven models for decision support
Integrate sensor systems onto machinery platforms
Manage data for analysis and organization
Nice-to-have
Experience with embedded systems and microcontrollers
Proficiency in R, Python, and MATLAB programming
Familiarity with ISOBUS and CAN bus standards
Experience designing hydraulic systems for agriculture
Proven record of peer-reviewed publications
Ability to mentor students and early-career researchers
Key Requirements
Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Engineering or related field
Demonstrated research experience relevant to FABE mission
Foundational knowledge of AI/ML applied to engineering systems
Understanding of networked systems and data communication protocols
