The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking an International Scholar Advising Specialist to provide immigration and visa advising support to international faculty, staff, and scholars. The role emphasizes cultural sensitivity, immigration expertise, and engagement with diverse populations within a major public research university

Job Summary

  • Provide advising support to international faculty, staff, and scholars and their host/employing departments on matters related to immigration and visa regulations.
  • Facilitate and process immigration document requests from university departments, staff, and scholars by serving as Alternate Responsible Officer for the University of Illinois J-1/J-1 program and preparing and filing petitions with the U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services related to H-1B, TN, and E-3 visa applications.
  • The University offers 11 annual paid holidays, 12 cumulative sick leave days, plus an additional 13 non-cumulative sick leave days, if needed, each year.
