Job Summary

  • This one year training program is for recent or soon to be high school graduates and alternative school graduates, where trainees learn about state government, highway maintenance and construction work.
  • Trainees will work with a maintenance crew to repair and maintain roads, bridges, signs and facilities, helping to keep Oregon’s roads safe for the traveling public.
  • As a full-time limited duration employee, you are eligible for health benefits, sick leave, 11 paid holidays a year and, after six months of employment, retirement benefits and enrollment in the Oregon Savings Growth Plan.

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED by July 1, 2026
  • Ability to obtain Class A CDL permit within 60 days
  • Ability to obtain Class A CDL with endorsements within six months
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Minimum 18 years of age by September 1, 2026
  • Maximum 45 minute response time to Detroit, OR
