The Director of Nursing (DON) is a registered nurse responsible for the overall management of the entire nursing department and staffing levels.
Key duties include developing and implementing nursing policies, ensuring resident safety, recruiting and training staff, and managing department budgets.
The role also involves providing direct resident/patient care as needed and acting as a liaison between the facility, physicians, and family members.
