Job Summary
Assist the Greenhouse Supervisor with the daily operations of the CALS Greenhouses and Growth Chambers, a College-wide service facility supporting 18 departments.
Provide superior care for diverse and high-value plant material, using the best horticultural technique in all aspects of plant culture.

Key Requirements
Associate’s degree in plant sciences
1+ year formal training in greenhouse management
2+ years of greenhouse experience
Competence in scouting for pests/diseases
Pesticide selection and resistance management
Familiarity with biocontrol concepts
Willing to work with and apply pesticides
Must obtain NYS Commercial Pesticide Applicator/Technician Certification
Proficiency with greenhouse sprayers and injectors
Physically able to lift over 50 pounds
Work with shop hand tools
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, e-mail, and web browsers
Demonstrated ability to work productively
Flexible, service minded and respectful
Good organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Valid and unrestricted New York State driver’s license
Obtain OSHA forklift operator’s certification within one year
Reliable transportation and willingness to respond for emergency duty
Periodic weekend and holiday hours
Experience working with diverse socioeconomic backgrounds
