Key Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in plant sciences
  • 1+ year formal training in greenhouse management
  • 2+ years of greenhouse experience
  • Competence in scouting for pests/diseases
  • Pesticide selection and resistance management
  • Familiarity with biocontrol concepts
  • Willing to work with and apply pesticides
  • Must obtain NYS Commercial Pesticide Applicator/Technician Certification
  • Proficiency with greenhouse sprayers and injectors
  • Physically able to lift over 50 pounds
  • Work with shop hand tools
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, e-mail, and web browsers
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively
  • Flexible, service minded and respectful
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid and unrestricted New York State driver’s license
  • Obtain OSHA forklift operator’s certification within one year
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to respond for emergency duty
  • Periodic weekend and holiday hours
  • Experience working with diverse socioeconomic backgrounds
