Key Requirements

  • Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC)
  • Baccalaureate degree in social work, nursing, sociology, human services, or psychology
  • Registered nurse licensure
  • 120 hours of classroom instruction
  • 440 hours of supervised experience
  • 270 hours of drug counselor training
  • 880 hours of supervised experience
  • Current certification as an alcohol and drug counselor
  • Bachelor's degree including 480 hours of education
  • 880 hours of practicum
  • 6,000 hours of supervised work experience
  • Competency in chemical abuse and dependency
  • Competency in chemical use assessments
  • Competency in case management
  • Competency in individual counseling including crisis intervention
  • Basic health assessment procedures
  • CPR, First Aid certification
  • Computer proficiency
