  • Work in this class primarily involves the operation of standard hand tools, power equipment, vehicles, and heavy equipment utilized in the preventative maintenance, repair, and construction of roads and roadside features for the State’s highway and roadway systems.
  • Position requires work during any adverse weather such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. which can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.

Key Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Current or obtainable Commercial Driver’s License within 360 days
  • No more than two moving violations in past three years
  • No alcohol or drug related traffic offenses in past five years
  • Pre-employment drug testing and background checks

Valid North Carolina or adjacent state driver's license; must obtain CDL within 360 days if not held at hire
