Job Summary
It’s the mission of the NC Department of Transportation to connect people, products and places safely and efficiently with customer focus, accountability, and environmental sensitivity to enhance the economy and vitality of North Carolina.
Work in this class primarily involves the operation of standard hand tools, power equipment, vehicles, and heavy equipment utilized in the preventative maintenance, repair, and construction of roads and roadside features for the State’s highway and roadway systems.
Position requires work during any adverse weather such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. which can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.

Key Requirements
High school education or equivalent
Current or obtainable Commercial Driver’s License within 360 days
No more than two moving violations in past three years

Valid North Carolina or adjacent state driver's license; must obtain CDL within 360 days if not held at hire
