** The Young Adult Institute Inc. is seeking an Assistant Behavior Intervention Specialist (ABIS) to work full-time in South Ozone Park, New York. Job Summary

  • Performs all duties of a Direct Support Professional (DSP 1 – 3) in addition to ABIS duties to ensure the overall supervision, protection and care of individuals in program.
  • Leads the identification, facilitation and scheduling of community inclusion activities for assigned program based on feedback from and needs of persons supported.
  • Trains direct care staff individually, on the floor and/or in groups using the EMOE training system to support effective implementation of habilitative and behavioral programming.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or related Human Services discipline and 6 months experience
  • Formal training and 2 years experience
  • 4 years experience as DSP in YAI program
  • Working knowledge of behavioral/psychiatric conditions
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to lead, direct and teach others
  • Hold foundational certifications: SCIP-R, CPR, AMAP or Day Services Model Mentorship Training
  • Ability to meet essential physical demands
  • Proficiency with computers and electronic systems
  • Ability to work full-time including weekends
