The Penn State Golf Courses is seeking part-time summer field technologists to assist in data collection on forest regeneration projects. Ideal candidates are current students or those with relevant experience in forestry and plant identification, capable of working independently in challenging outdoor conditions

Job Summary

  • Assist with data collection on Continuous Forest Inventory (CFI) plots established by PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).
  • Find CFI plots using GPS, measure tree size using DBH tapes, and record crop counts on selected trees using binoculars.
  • This is a great opportunity to gain experience in conducting forest inventory and quantifying the regeneration potential of PA forests.
