Key Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 20 years old
  • U.S. Citizen
  • No Felony or serious Misdemeanor convictions
  • No DWI/DUI in preceding five years
  • Pass entry level written examination
  • Pass entry level physical ability test
  • Able to wear a gas mask and pass OSHA fit test
  • Pass extensive background investigation
  • Honorable Military Discharge (if applicable)
  • Approved by Civil Service Board
  • Normal Color Vision
  • Minimum corrected visual acuity 20/30 binocularly
  • Pass pre-employment Drug Screening Test
  • Possess or obtain valid NC or SC Driver's License
  • Pass the Basic Law Enforcement Training
  • Obtain DCI and CPR certifications
