The Director of Nursing (DON) is a registered nurse who oversees and supervises the care of all the residents, also providing direct resident/patient care.
Essential duties include overall management of the nursing department, developing and implementing policies, ensuring resident safety, and coordinating pharmacy services.
The DON is responsible for department budgeting, reporting, keeping current on regulation changes, and participating in QA, Utilization Review, and Patient Care conferences.
