Performs waived and moderate high complexity testing according to CLIA ‘88 guidelines; interprets and reports results for established tests and examinations in at least one of the following fields within the clinical laboratory: Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, and Microbiology.
Performs quality control, quality assurance and maintenance.
Works independently but under the supervision of the department coordinator or a certified technologist/technician.

Key Requirements
Associates degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology
24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses
24 semester hours of science courses
6 hours each of chemistry and biology
12 hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology
Completion of an approved or accredited clinical laboratory training program
3 months of documented laboratory training in each specialty
