Job Summary

  • It’s the mission of the NC Department of Transportation to connect people, products and places safely and efficiently with customer focus, accountability, and environmental sensitivity to enhance the economy and vitality of North Carolina.
  • This position will train and certify school bus drivers in the classroom and behind the wheel and is responsible for teaching safe driving procedures for school bus driver defensive driving courses, driver improvement clinics and other safety programs.
  • The position also inspects commercial driver training schools and vehicles for compliance with state and county laws and investigates complaints involving commercial driver training schools.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Two years related experience
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) with P and S endorsements for at least 2 years
  • Criminal background and motor vehicle records check
