  • This position will work under the supervision and direction of the HLA laboratory supervisor. Medical Laboratory Scientists in the HLA laboratory perform a variety of technical procedures including HLA typing by rSSO and next generation sequencing methods, Luminex based HLA Antibody identification, and donor/recipient flow cytometric cross-matching.

  • perform ABO/Rh, IAT, DAT, antibody identification
  • cross-matching units of blood
  • running automated ABO/RH, IAT equipment
  • wash red blood cells and plasma
  • platelet crossmatching and antibody identification
  • daily reagent QC and equipment preventive maintenance
  • issue blood and blood components
  • understand Massive Transfusion Protocol
  • effective communication with customers
  • receive and label samples properly
  • maintain competency on revised policies

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences OR an approved ASCP discipline
  • 30 semester hours in biology and chemistry
  • ASCP and/or CHT (ABHI) certification
  • Previous clinical laboratory experience
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States
