This position will work under the supervision and direction of the HLA laboratory supervisor. Medical Laboratory Scientists in the HLA laboratory perform a variety of technical procedures including HLA typing by rSSO and next generation sequencing methods, Luminex based HLA Antibody identification, and donor/recipient flow cytometric cross-matching.

perform ABO/Rh, IAT, DAT, antibody identification
cross-matching units of blood
running automated ABO/RH, IAT equipment
wash red blood cells and plasma
platelet crossmatching and antibody identification
daily reagent QC and equipment preventive maintenance
issue blood and blood components
understand Massive Transfusion Protocol
effective communication with customers
receive and label samples properly
maintain competency on revised policies

Key Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences OR an approved ASCP discipline
30 semester hours in biology and chemistry
ASCP and/or CHT (ABHI) certification
Previous clinical laboratory experience
Proof of legal authority to work in the United States
