Job Summary

• The Communicable Disease Division of the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene is seeking a Microbiologist I or Microbiologist II to support clinical specimen receiving and processing, inventory management, data entry, and customer service.
• This position functions under close supervision and reports to the Administrative Supervisor of the Client Services Department, with work hours including rotating Saturdays and potential for occasional Sundays, holidays, and additional shifts.
• The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, as part of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is committed to exploring new ideas and providing essential laboratory support in accordance with public health goals.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science
• 0-2 years previous experience (Microbiologist I)
• 2+ years previous relevant work experience (Microbiologist II)
• 2+ years work experience in a clinical laboratory setting performing high complexity clinical testing (preferred)
• Must be able to visually distinguish colors
