Job Summary

  • The Instructor/Assistant Professor of English is responsible for instruction in English (writing and literature) and Humanities courses within the Academic Division.
  • Instruction may take place via direct instruction, cooperative learning, internship, apprenticeship, synchronous and asynchronous distance delivery, interactive computer-based instruction, and/or other modes, as needed and appropriate.
  • Ilisagvik College offers health insurance to our employees with a no cost premium, and $50/pay period for each additional dependent and a low cost annual deductible of $200 for employee only and $600 for family.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in English, Composition, or related discipline and two years’ secondary and/or postsecondary teaching experience
  • Master's degree or equivalent in English, Composition, or related discipline and two years of post-secondary teaching experience
  • Doctorate degree or equivalent preferred
  • One year of demonstrated work experience in a rural Alaskan environment preferred
  • One year of demonstrated experience coordinating and promoting distance delivery education preferred
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
