The Staff Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients, communicates with families, physicians and other health team members and maintains documentation of services in the medical records.
The role includes supervising Occupational Therapy Assistants, conducting in-service training for facility staff, and participating in patient care and rehabilitation conferences.
The therapist also recommends and facilitates ordering durable medical equipment to support patient independence and participates in discharge planning.
