Job Summary
The Clinical Perfusionist sets up, operates and maintains the heart lung machine and related equipment such as the intra-aortic balloon pump, autotransfusion devices, ecmo and vads.
The incumbent is responsible for routinely checking all hardware and maintains perfusion related equipment and disposables stock on an ongoing basis, carries out blood gas, heparin concentration, activated clotting time and thrombelastograph analysis as well as quality control and calibration of those analyzers.
They initiate, participate in and complete research projects in perfusion related areas.
