Job Summary

  • The Residential Counsellor will plan and implement individualized, goal-centered programs for adults with developmental disabilities within all Lawson Ministries Programs.
  • Ensure that the Service User’s physical needs (food, clothing, shelter) are well met, including cleaning, meal preparation, and personal care.
  • Trained in medication dispensing and responsible for administration and accurate documentation of and ordering medication.

Key Requirements

  • Two academic years post-secondary/college program in Developmental Social Worker Diploma or equivalent
  • Current First Aid & CPR with Defibrillation training
  • Current Non Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certification (CPI)
  • Original Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license, access to own vehicle, and current Driver’s Abstract
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities
  • Experience supporting people with behavior challenges
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
