Job Summary
The nurse director is accountable for the delivery of high-quality nursing care and for the administrative management of the nursing unit on a 24-hour basis.
The MUSC Orangeburg BHU is a 14-bed inpatient mental health unit treating adult patients, while the EmPATH Unit is a specialized hospital-based observation unit for patients with mental health emergencies.
Responsibilities include developing organizational structure, selecting and training personnel, developing and monitoring departmental budgets, and assuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key Requirements
Master’s degree in nursing or BSN with 20 years of clinical experience (for hires after Nov 1, 2024)
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (for hires prior to Nov 1, 2024)
MSN completion within 2 years of hire (encouraged)
Current South Carolina registered nurse license
Five years of related clinical experience
Three years of supervisory or management experience
Current AHA BLS or American Red Cross BLS certification
