Job Summary
PATH seeks a subject matter expert to strengthen Ethiopia's polio and vaccine-preventable disease surveillance systems under the STRIDES Project.
The consultant will provide technical support for active case searches, data quality improvement, and training across high-risk areas including border and pastoralist communities.
This role requires close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health, Ethiopian Public Health Institute, and global partners to ensure actionable public health decision-making.

Must-have
Polio and vaccine-preventable disease surveillance expertise
Active case search and AFP investigation experience
Event-based and indicator-based surveillance system knowledge
Data quality improvement and analysis proficiency
Training and mentoring of health facility staff
Coordination with government and GPEI partners
Nice-to-have
Working knowledge of Amharic or local languages
Experience in animal health and zoonotic diseases
Familiarity with DHIS2 and digital health tools
Prior work in refugee or IDP settings
Ability to develop analytical dashboards
Key Requirements
Master's degree in epidemiology, public health, or related field
At least 5 years of relevant experience in polio surveillance
Demonstrated experience with AFP surveillance and outbreak investigation
Practical experience working within Ethiopia's public health system
