Job Summary

  • It’s the mission of the NC Department of Transportation to connect people, products and places safely and efficiently with customer focus, accountability, and environmental sensitivity to enhance the economy and vitality of North Carolina.
  • Work will consist of a wide range of progressively responsible maintenance tasks in the preventive maintenance, repair and construction of State maintained roads including operating various equipment and responding to emergencies.
  • The position requires monitoring tasks performed by inmates and other transportation workers and may involve emergency call back situations and scheduled night work.

  • Snow and ice removal response

  • Experience with pipe installation
  • Erosion control device installation
  • Ditch maintenance
  • Ability to monitor tasks performed by inmates and other workers

Key Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Three years experience operating related equipment
  • Current or ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License within 360 days
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (49 CFR 383)
