Job Summary

  • It’s the mission of the NC Department of Transportation to connect people, products and places safely and efficiently with customer focus, accountability, and environmental sensitivity to enhance the economy and vitality of North Carolina.
  • The chosen candidate will perform a wide range of progressively responsible maintenance tasks in the preventative maintenance, repair, and construction of roads and roadside features, including the installation of ground-mounted signs and the use of paint and thermoplastic pavement markings.
  • This position requires work during adverse weather such as snow, ice, tornadoes, and hurricanes which can lead to extended hours, weekends, and holidays, and is subject to emergency callbacks and scheduled night work.

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six years experience operating related equipment
  • Current or obtain Class B CDL with N endorsement within 360 days
  • Pre-employment drug testing
  • Background check for controlled substances and alcohol testing
  • Completion of NCDOT post offer employment evaluation

Work Rights

Must have or obtain North Carolina Commercial Driver's License within 360 days
