Job Summary

  • Responsible for working between engineering and supply chain teams as well as with external suppliers to ensure alignment on requirements, provide critical feedback on part designs, 2-D drawings, and directly improve specification development procedures for Ford’s next generation electric powertrains.
  • Develop correct specs for successful RFQ's using reliability goals and FMEA's, evaluate supplier capabilities using Product DFM & Process DFM tools, and define supplier quality goals during DFM negotiations and prototype phases.
  • Support design team in generating and checking 2-D drawings and component specifications, define internal specification development procedures, and perform design for manufacturing review of components and systems.

Key Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in automotive or related high volume manufacturing field
  • Proficiency in CATIA
  • Experience with PPAP, Lean Six Sigma, and Minitab
  • Strong engineering and quality skills
  • Previous experience as a design and quality engineer, with SMT, PCBA and DFM
  • Ability to hire and recruit engineering and supply chain team member
  • Leading people, assertiveness and collaboration with Multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in supplier quality management and production management
  • Familiarity with GD&T and DFM
  • Understanding of QMS and SPC
