Job Summary
This one year training program is for recent or soon to be high school graduates and alternative school graduates, where trainees learn about state government, highway maintenance and construction work.
Trainees will work with a maintenance crew to repair and maintain roads, bridges, signs and facilities, helping to keep Oregon’s roads safe for the traveling public.
After completing the program, you may qualify for a Transportation Maintenance Specialist 2 position and are encouraged to apply for permanent ODOT jobs at any time.

Base: $3,952/month increasing to $4,124/month after 6 months; Benefits: Health benefits, sick leave, 11 paid holidays, retirement benefits after 6 months

Key Requirements
High school diploma or GED by July 1, 2026
Ability to obtain Class A Commercial Learner Permit within 60 days
Ability to obtain CDL-A with tanker endorsement within six months
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
