Job Summary

  • This one year training program is for recent or soon to be high school graduates and alternative school graduates to learn about state government, highway maintenance and construction work.
  • Trainees will receive hands-on training including safety rules, crash response, equipment use, and training to obtain a Class A commercial driver license (CDL).
  • As a full-time limited duration employee, you are eligible for health benefits, sick leave, paid holidays, retirement benefits after six months, and the Oregon Savings Growth Plan.

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED between Jan 1, 2023 and July 1, 2026
  • Ability to obtain Class A commercial learner permit within 60 days of hire
  • Must be 18 years old and have one year driving experience by Sept 1, 2026
  • Valid Oregon driver license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to obtain CDL-A with tanker endorsement within six months or possess valid CDL-A with endorsements
  • Maximum 45 minute response time to La Pine, OR location
  • Pre-employment driving record and FMCSA checks
