Key Requirements

  • Basic Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training police officer certification
  • one (1) year of full-time equivalent work experience as a certified law enforcement professional
  • successful completion of a Field Training Program
  • completed Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (CJTC) Law Enforcement Basic Academy or equivalency academy
  • successfully completed an agency's law enforcement patrol Field Training Program and probationary program
  • United States citizen or meet immigration requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 21 years of age
  • valid driver’s license
  • pass all components of the police application process
  • obtain a railroad police commission from the State of Oregon
