Job Summary
This position conducts building and plumbing inspections in the electoral areas of the Capital Regional District (CRD).
Reviews building plans and specifications for zoning and ensures compliance with the BC Building Code, Plumbing Code, Islands Trust bylaws and regulatory bylaws of the CRD.
Provides guidance to Building Inspection office staff and junior level inspectors, and assists in the orientation and training of new staff.

Salary
$45.94 - $52.01 per hour

Must-have
BC Building Code and Plumbing Code knowledge
Review building plans and specifications
Conduct construction project inspections
Enforce bylaws and code requirements
Communicate with stakeholders on regulatory issues
Maintain detailed building department records

Ability to diffuse difficult situations
Keep updated on code issues and legislative changes
Key Requirements
Diploma in a related discipline
6 years' progressively responsible experience
2 years' directly related experience
Building Officials Association of BC Level 1 Certification
