Job Summary

• This position will report to the McDowell County Maintenance Office and perform a wide range of progressively responsible maintenance tasks in the preventive maintenance, repair and construction of State maintained roads.
• Work includes setting up work zones, installing traffic control devices, repairing asphalt pavements, clearing right of way of debris and hazards assisting with pipe installation, and operating a variety of hand and power tools.
• This position will monitor tasks performed by inmates and other transportation workers, respond to emergencies such as snow and ice removal, downed trees, and traffic control cleanup, etc. during normal business hours or during emergency call back situations and scheduled night work.
