Job Summary

  • Manages, directs and controls all human resource functions and activities within the City, including employment, job classification, compensation, performance appraisals, labor relations, Civil Service, employee benefits and training.
  • Develops a vision and plan for organizational training initiatives, recruitment and retention and employee benefits; builds and maintains partnerships with the Police and Fire departments to provide assistance in recruitment efforts.
  • Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field
  • Five years’ experience in human resource management
  • Familiarity with Civil Service systems
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with Texas Local Government Code Chapter 143
  • SHRM certification within 6 months
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
