Job Summary

  • This position will work under the supervision and direction of the HLA laboratory supervisor, performing a variety of technical procedures including HLA typing, Luminex based HLA Antibody identification, and donor/recipient flow cytometric cross-matching.

  • Perform ABO/Rh, IAT, DAT, antibody identification
  • Cross-matching units of blood
  • Run automated ABO/RH, IAT equipment
  • Wash red blood cells and plasma
  • Perform platelet crossmatching and antibody identification
  • Communicate effectively with blood bank customers
  • Receive and ensure proper labeling of samples

Nice-to-have

  • Assist in training new staff and students
  • Maintain competency on revised and new procedures
  • Report deviations from standard operating procedures

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences OR an approved ASCP discipline
  • 30 semester hours in biology and chemistry
  • ASCP and/or CHT (ABHI) certification
  • Previous clinical laboratory experience
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States
