Job Summary

  • This job assumes responsibility for and interacts directly with patients and family members, as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, to reduce emotional distress and trauma associated with illness, injury and health care, and to increase effective coping.
  • Works to optimize development, normalize the hospital experience, promote the expression of feelings, enhance healthy independence, foster family strengths, and psychologically prepare patients and family members for stressful encounters throughout their health care experiences.
  • Provides assessments, interventions and therapeutic techniques from infancy to adolescents and acts as integral part of patient care team, advocating for patient and family needs.
