Job Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a registered nurse responsible for the overall management of the nursing department, including staffing, policy development, and ensuring resident safety and respect.
Key responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, and training nursing staff, coordinating pharmacy services, and acting as a liaison between the facility, physicians, and family members.
The DON will also participate in quality assurance, state surveys, MDS and care planning, and conduct employee appraisals, while also providing direct resident care as needed.
