The Department of Public Safety is seeking a Port of Entry Officer II to enforce state and federal regulations regarding motor carrier operations and safety. The role involves conducting vehicle inspections, issuing citations, and ensuring compliance with transportation laws

Job Summary

  • Positions in this job family are involved in the enforcement of state laws and administrative rules and federal regulations concerning intrastate and interstate motor carrier operations, motor vehicle operations, motor vehicle registration, driver licenses, and the transportation of property and hazardous materials.
  • Duties are accomplished while stationed at and around a port of entry or weigh station.
  • Incumbents shall be certified by CVSA to conduct Level I Inspections within six (6) months from the date of employment.

Key Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma
  • 3 years transportation/law enforcement experience OR 1 year CLEET certified law enforcement experience
  • Certified inspector for North American Standard Inspections Level I, Hazardous Materials/Transportation of Dangerous Goods Inspections, and Cargo Tank Inspections (if not CLEET certified)
