Job Summary
This one year training program is for recent or soon to be high school graduates and alternative school graduates to learn about state government, highway maintenance and construction work.
Trainees will work with a maintenance crew to repair and maintain roads, bridges, signs and facilities, helping keep Oregon’s roads safe for the traveling public.
As a full-time limited duration employee, you are eligible for health benefits, sick leave, 11 paid holidays a year and, after six months, retirement benefits and enrollment in the Oregon Savings Growth Plan.

Key Requirements
High school diploma or GED between Jan 1, 2023 and Jul 1, 2026
Maximum 30 minute emergency response time to Roseburg, OR location
Ability to obtain Class A commercial learner permit within 60 days of hire
Must be at least 18 years old by Sep 1, 2026 with one year driving experience
Ability to obtain CDL-A with tanker endorsement within six months or possess valid CDL-A with endorsements
Valid Oregon driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Pre-employment driving record and FMCSA checks
