Job Summary

  • This role is responsible for ensuring that effective policies, processes, and internal controls are in place to support accurate and timely reporting to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
  • As the City’s primary excise tax expert, this position provides strategic advice and insights to senior leadership and governance committees, supporting informed decision‑making and optimizing the City’s tax recovery opportunities.
  • You bring an expert-level knowledge of the Excise Tax Act that you will leverage to strengthen the City’s tax governance and compliance framework, including proactively identifying and mitigating compliance risks and delivering accurate and timely GST/HST filings to the CRA.

Key Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in tax, accounting, or finance
  • Extensive professional experience (minimum 8-years)
  • CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program completion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems
