Job Summary

  • Under general supervision, investigates alleged or suspected violations of Federal, state, or local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • The investigator will be required to travel to different locations within an assigned regional area but could be called to travel outside of the area.
  • Investigators will follow regional leadership “On-Call” schedules unless on approved PTO/Vacation/Training.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year of related experience
  • Three years of experience in law enforcement or related field
  • One Year of experience at the PSP090 level or position equivalent
  • Georgia POST certification in Basic Law Enforcement
  • Georgia POST requirements regarding training
  • Georgia POST requirements regarding firearms qualification
  • Four or more years of experience in police or investigative work
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, police science, or a closely related field
  • Experience working in an investigative unit
  • Experience working within a sex crimes unit or dealing with PREA investigations
  • Current and valid certification as a Basic Law Enforcement Peace Officer by the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Council
  • Valid Class C driver's license
