Key Requirements

  • Certified by North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training
  • Age between 21 and 39 at start of basic school
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 10th grade reading level or higher
  • U.S. citizen or naturalized citizen
  • No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • 20/30 corrected vision in each eye
  • Pass polygraph, background, medical, psychological exams
  • Score 60% or above on Cooper Physical Fitness Test
