Job Summary

  • Hexcel is the industry leader in the manufacturing of advance composite materials, including carbon fiber, woven reinforcements, resins, prepregs, honeycombs and engineered core.
  • The selected individual will be responsible for honing materials expertise, specifying polymer systems, developing formulations, producing samples, and characterizing properties of next-generation composite materials.
  • The role requires independent planning, execution, and management of multiple development projects with minimal supervision, as well as assisting in the transition to production and troubleshooting production issues.

Key Requirements

  • PhD in Organic/Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • Extensive understanding of polymer processing and properties
  • Experience with high temperature materials, epoxy, BMI, cyanate ester, and thermoplastic chemistries
  • Experience with various production techniques
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
  • Technical report writing, data collection/analysis
  • Carbon fiber reinforced product development experience
  • High-temperature polymer matrices and precursors for carbon-carbon composites experience
