Austal is seeking a Health Safety & Environmental Manager for its San Diego office to oversee safety programs and ensure compliance with regulations in an industrial maritime environment. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of relevant experience and a degree in a related field, along with strong communication and leadership skills

Job Summary

  • Assists and coordinates functions of a comprehensive on-site Injury & Illness Prevention Program (I2P2) to include incipient fire protection and control, hazardous materials and waste management both on project sites and in local satellite offices.
  • Oversees investigates all local site accidents/injuries; coordinates Sr. Manager HSE and Occupation nurse regarding the processing of Longshore Harbor Workers (LSHW) Compensation claims, log recordability.
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate, State, and Federal regulations and guidelines regarding to occupational safety & health, hazardous chemical use and chemical waste storage for California operations as it relates to maritime shipyard and general construction.
