Key Requirements

  • Currently certified by North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training or enrolled to graduate before June 1, 2026
  • Must be 21 to 39 years old by first day of basic school
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Score at or above 10th grade reading level on standardized tests
  • U.S. citizen or naturalized citizen
  • No felony convictions or serious misdemeanor offenses
  • 20/30 vision corrected in each eye
  • Pass polygraph, background check, medical/physical exam, psychological exam, and review board
