Job Summary

  • It’s the mission of the NC Department of Transportation to connect people, products and places safely and efficiently with customer focus, accountability, and environmental sensitivity to enhance the economy and vitality of North Carolina.
  • Work includes setting up work zones, installing traffic control devices, repairing asphalt pavements, clearing right of way of debris and hazards, assisting with pipe installation, and operating a variety of hand and power tools and equipment.
  • This position will monitor tasks performed by inmates and other transportation workers, respond to emergencies such as snow and ice removal, downed trees, and traffic control cleanup during normal business hours or emergency call back situations.

Key Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Three years experience operating related equipment
  • Current or ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License within 360 days
  • Experience with pipe installation or erosion control or snow removal or ditch maintenance or asphalt patching
