Job Summary

  • The Protection Officer provides technical leadership and coordination support to ensure that protection responses across Cabo Delgado and Nampula Provinces are strategic, coherent and aligned with international standards and national frameworks.
  • The position plays a critical role in ensuring that internally displaced persons, returnees and vulnerable host communities have access to rights, services and solutions in a complex, fluid and high-risk operational environment.
  • The incumbent supports emergency response operations, partner capacity building, government engagement, and quality assurance of protection activities while maintaining close collaboration with UNHCR teams and humanitarian partners.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years relevant professional protection experience
  • Undergraduate degree with 6 years experience or Graduate degree with 5 years experience
  • Strong field-based experience in complex or emergency settings
  • Knowledge of international refugee, humanitarian and human rights law
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese
  • Experience supporting emergency response operations
  • Experience engaging with government authorities and humanitarian actors
