Job Summary
The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Bengali-speaking Cultural Mediator to support protection activities for newly arrived refugees and migrants in Southern Italy.
The Cultural Mediator provides cultural mediation, interpretation, and information services, supports identification of vulnerabilities, and facilitates referrals in coordination with IRC colleagues, UNHCR, and other partners.
The position is based in Catania and requires regular travel to disembarkation points and reception facilities across Sicily and Calabria.

Must-have
Fluency in Bengali spoken and written
Good command of Italian language
Cultural mediation and interpretation experience
Knowledge of Italian asylum system
Experience with trafficking survivors
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Nice-to-have
Knowledge of Urdu language
Trauma-informed and child-centered approaches
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Valid driver’s license preferred
Cultural and political sensitivity
Key Requirements
