Job Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a registered nurse responsible for the overall management of the nursing department, including staffing, policy development, and ensuring resident safety and respect.
Key duties include recruiting, hiring, and training nursing staff, coordinating pharmacy services, acting as a liaison between the facility, physicians, and family members, and managing department budgets.
The role requires participation in QA, Utilization Review, Patient Care conferences, state surveys, MDS coordination, and providing direct resident care as needed.
