Job Summary

  • The Principal Perfusionist works under the supervision of the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Director of Cardiac Perfusion Services, reporting directly to the Director and is expected to work independently.
  • Responsible for the overall operation of the department during the absence of the Director, providing routine and specialized patient care services requiring extracorporeal circulation and/or oxygenation.
  • Provides advanced perfusion techniques for myocardial and/or organ protection and preservation, blood component and drug/fluid administration, and blood conservation/concentration.
