Job Summary

  • The Veterinary Technician/Assistant will be responsible for assisting the practice with a variety of duties including but not limited to: Assisting veterinarians during exams, surgeries and other medical procedures; monitoring and caring for animals before, during and after procedures Handling and restraining animals in a calm and compassionate manner.
  • Prepare exam rooms and surgical areas, restocking hospital with supplies. Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment; wrapping surgical packs/instruments.

  • Educate pet owners on products and diseases
  • Place IV catheters and perform blood draws
  • Run in-house bloodwork
  • Take x-rays
  • Maintain accurate patient records
  • Prepping and reading cytology samples
  • Clean cages and clinic facilities
  • Stand for long periods
  • Lift 40 pounds alone

  • Fast-paced and emotionally charged environment

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience as a veterinary technician/assistant
  • Comfortable working and restraining cats and dogs
  • Comfortable around blood and surgical procedures
  • Excellent communication skills
  • LVT or CVA preferred
