Job Summary

  • The Oiler stands engine watch as instructed by the Staff Chief Engineer and Engineer of the Watch, maintaining an efficient and alert watch in the engine room during assigned periods.
  • During watch duty, the Oiler continuously supervises Machinery Spaces and promptly reports malfunctioning and abnormal conditions to the Engineer of the Watch.
  • The Oiler assists with general maintenance of the ship including cleaning, painting, and repairs, and promptly reports and controls any spillage or cause of pollution.
