The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Launch Structures Engineer to contribute to the design, analysis, and evaluation of launch vehicle structures. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in solid mechanics, experience with finite element analysis, and a passion for the space industry

Job Summary

  • Resolve design and test issues/anomalies/challenges via detailed structural assessment of launch vehicle hardware including stage tanks, interstage structures, engine thrust structures and payload accommodation components.
  • Offer technical consultation to management, customers, contractors, and government organizations in formulating and assessing test plans, procedures, objectives, and success criteria.
  • Maintain state-of-the-art skills in activities related to design, evaluation, and testing of space structures including structural mechanics analysis techniques, failure criteria, and advanced finite element analysis methods.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 3+ years of structural engineering experience
  • Experience performing finite element analyses
  • Experience in structural mechanics
  • 6+ years of structural engineering experience (for Engineering Specialist)
  • Experience using Nastran, Abaqus, or other FE tools (for Engineering Specialist)
